Winter is the time for pruning apples and pears.The main aim being to remove diseased or damaged branches/twigs, including any that are crossing and/or rubbing each other, and to improve the shape of the tree. They can also be trained, by a combination of pruning and tying to canes/wires, into certain shapes, such as espaliers (a single stem with long side shoots) or cordons (with short side-shoots), often against a wall.
Mulch around winter brassicas.
Keep checking stored produce, removing any that are rotting.
