What we do
Abundance Manchester is a free, volunteer‑led project that harvests surplus fruit from gardens, allotments and community spaces and shares it with local community kitchens, food clubs and shelters. We reduce waste, cut food miles and bring neighbours together — all on a non‑commercial, community basis.
Origins
Many thanks to the original Abundance Manchester which was last in action several years ago.
Abundance Manchester was inspired by Sheffield Abundance, who were keen for others to use their idea, and their name, as long as they shared the same core values: not wasting, distributing the produce as a gift, educating about food miles, being inclusive and having fun!

How it works
- Tell us about your tree/plot — complete the short form.
- We agree a time — we’ll check ripeness and arrange a convenient slot.
- We harvest safely — trained volunteers bring pickers, sheets and ladders, and tidy up. You’re welcome to keep a share.
- Food to the community — the rest goes to local groups that can use it right now.
What we pick
